Timestamp link
zip1.io/

Shorten it saves the timestamp link shown above, not the address you pasted.

A timestamp link is the video address plus a start time in seconds

YouTube reads a t value on the end of a link and starts the video there. This page writes it for you as a short youtu.be address:

https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ?t=90

That link starts at 1 minute 30 seconds. Type the time the way you read it off the player, such as 1:30 or 1:02:03. Plain seconds such as 90, or YouTube's own style such as 1m30s, work too.

Paste the video from the address bar, the Share button, a Shorts link or an embed code. If the link already has a time on it, that time is used until you type a new one. The new link points at the video alone, so a playlist the address belonged to is left off.

YouTube can do this on a computer, and this page covers the rest

On a computer, press Share under the video, tick Start at, and copy the link. That gives the same kind of link.

Use this page when you already have a link and want to add or change the time, when you are on a phone, or when you want a QR code or a short link as well. Nothing is sent to YouTube. The link is built in your browser, and the page does not check that the video is public.

Shorten it when you want to count who opened it

Press Shorten it to save the timestamp link as a zip1.io address. The custom ending, the part after zip1.io/, is optional. Use letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores, up to 12 characters. Leave it blank and zip1.io chooses an ending. The short link keeps the start time.

After you shorten, you can switch the QR code to the short link, and each scan that opens it counts as a click. That helps on a slide or a printed handout, where you want to know whether anyone used the code. A click means someone opened the link. It is not a YouTube view, and zip1.io cannot see how long anyone watched.

The stats page shows country, browser, operating system and referring site, and the time of the last click. Anyone with the short link can open its stats. Visitor IP addresses are stored to count unique visitors. They are never shown on the stats page or included in the export. To shorten a YouTube video, channel or playlist without a start time, see the YouTube link shortener page.

FAQ

  • How do I link to a specific time in a YouTube video?

Add ?t= and the number of seconds to a youtu.be link, such as youtu.be/VIDEO?t=90 for 1 minute 30 seconds. This page does the sum for you: paste the video, type the time as 1:30, and copy the link.

  • Can YouTube make a timestamp link itself?

Yes. On a computer, press Share under the video, tick Start at, and copy the link. This page is for when you already have a link, you are on a phone, or you want a QR code or a short link as well.

  • Which time formats can I type?

Minutes and seconds such as 1:30, hours as well such as 1:02:03, plain seconds such as 90, or YouTube's own style such as 1m30s. If the link you paste already has a time, it is used until you type a new one.

  • Does the short link keep the start time?

Yes. Shorten it saves the youtu.be link with the time, and the short link opens that exact address. A short link cannot be changed later, so make a new one for a different moment.

  • What do the click numbers include?

A click means someone opened the short link. A QR code of the youtu.be link itself, before you shorten it, is not counted.

  • Does this page contact YouTube?

No. The link is built in your browser from the address you paste. The page does not check that the video exists or is public. YouTube shows its own message when someone opens a video that is private or removed.

Start the video at the right moment

Paste the video, type the time, and copy the link. Shorten it if you want each open counted.
